Playing Rules

7.       PLAYING RULES

 

  1. All games in the Sask Alta Hockey League shall be governed by, and be subject to, the current Playing Rules and Regulations of the Hockey Alberta, and Hockey Canada.

  3. Each team must be Registered with the Hockey Alberta, or Saskatchewan Hockey Association, and each Player must have a signed card at Hockey Alberta office or on a Team Players List registered with Saskatchewan Hockey Association. Bench personnel must also be registered.

  5. All players must be amateur.  The word amateur meaning a player who does not receive any financial remuneration, other than out of pocket expenses.

  7. At the January 10 cut off date, a maximum of 25 (Twenty Five) players must be registered with Alberta Amateur Hockey Association, Saskatchewan Hockey Association and the Sask Alta Hockey League.  Bench personnel must be on this list.

  9. Each team may dress up to 20 players for games played in the Sask Alta Hockey League. All teams, at the beginning of the game, must ice at least 10 (Ten) registered players, or shall be fined $50.00(Fifty Dollars) per player. A grievance must be submitted to the Sask Alta Hockey League Secretary, within 24 (Twenty Four) hours of the completion of the game.

  11. To be eligible for playoffs, players must be on the players list that was registered with the Sask Alta Hockey League, and Hockey Alberta, on January 12 of the current playing year. Teams must still    report players lists to Hockey Alberta, or Saskatchewan Hockey on January 10, and February 10.

  13. If, after regulation time, a game is tied, a 5 (five) minute sudden victory overtime period will be played during Regular Season. If still tied, a 5 (Five) person shoot out will take place. Player in First round will only take 1 (One) shot. If still tied, shot out continues until winner is decided. All players are eligible for second round. During Playoffs, Alberta Amateur Hockey Association rules will be followed.

  15. The home team is responsible for off ice officials.
  16. The Sask Alta Hockey League will supply all on ice officials, unless previous arrangements between the Referee assignor and the home team has been made. The Sask Alta Hockey League will pay the Referee’s mileage, as set at the annual fall meeting. It is the responsibility of the home team to pay the Referee fees & linesmen fees.

  18. Discrimination, in any aspect , will not be tolerated. Suspensions and/or fines may be implemented for violations.

  20. Affiliation – Five affiliates maybe used by each team. – Starting with first game of regular season. Once the first (AP) is on the game sheet that counts as player one.

  22. Saskatchewan Teams Affiliation – The Sask/Alta Hockey League approves Saskatchewan teams’ concession applications to Saskatchewan Hockey Association / Hockey Alberta to allow them to affiliate junior players, and that the league will confirm this approval in writing to both Saskatchewan Hockey Association / Hockey Alberta no later than September 30 each year.
